What’s The Deal With…?

Legendary Surf Spots

For sure! If you’re feeling adventurous and have a 4x4, you can explore. Just north, you might find a punchier beach break called “Shipwrecks.“ Further up the coast towards Todos Santos, there are a few more secluded spots that work on different swells. Always ask a local shop for the latest beta before venturing out—conditions and access change. Los Cerritos is the consistent hub, but Baja is all about exploration if you’re down for a mission.

It’s a beautiful, wide stretch of golden sand, so post-surf chilling is mandatory. The beach is split by a rocky point—the main break is on one side, and a mellower beach break is on the other. It’s not totally remote; there are palapa restaurants, shops, and some development. The sun is fierce, so a good rashguard and zinc are key. At low tide, it can get a bit mushy, but when the tide fills in, oh man, it’s magic.

Dude, it’s a total learner’s paradise! This long, sandy-bottom point break peels gently for what feels like forever. The mellow rollers give you plenty of time to pop up and practice your stance without getting pounded. The bottom is soft sand, so wiping out is no biggie. Plus, the consistent swell and friendly vibe in the lineup make it the perfect spot to get your feet wet and log those first glorious rides. It’s a forgiving wave that builds confidence fast.

Legendary Surf Spots

It’s generally super chill and friendly, especially down near the inside section where the groms and beginners hang. Everyone’s out to have a good time. That said, as with any popular spot, it can get a bit crowded when it’s firing. Just remember your surf etiquette—don’t drop in, snake, or hog all the waves. A smile and a bit of patience go a long way. Respect the locals and the pecking order, and you’ll find it’s a pretty mellow crowd sharing the stoke.

This is huge. Always pack out your trash—leave zero trace. Support the local businesses, eat at the family-run taco stands, and be cool to everyone. Water is precious down there, so keep those showers short. When driving on dirt roads, go slow to avoid dust and respect any private property signs. We’re guests in their backyard. Keeping the place clean and showing respect ensures this slice of paradise stays epic for the locals and surf pilgrims for years to come.

You can totally go either way! There are a couple of solid surf shops right on the beach that rent everything from soft-tops for the kooks to performance shortboards for the more experienced. They also offer lessons if you’re just starting your journey. But if you have a favorite stick, bringing it is always a good call. Just be prepared for potential airline fees. Having your own trusted board under your arm is a feeling that’s hard to beat.
